Technical Comps

Using three different techniques, collage, silouettes, and texture painting create a forest, ice, and desert composition.   Where you at Geoff?

  1. Desert: I would look at some desert images to reference color, cuz right now it's looking a little too red, almost like it's a volcanic/magma environment. And the dude sliding down the wire is way too small. You either need to get rid of it all together, or zoom in closer, maybe from a different angle, possibly from the behind the guy so you're looking in the direction that he's going.

Forest: This composition I think is working the best. I feel it's got a decent balance of foreground, mid ground, and background. I like the way you did the volumetric perspective for the background. I dig the lighting too, I think it works. However, it doesn't look like a forest, lol. It looks more like a cave with diamonds. Also, just one little thing. I notice you like to work with Blue and Green colors alot. Maybe you might want to vary your color pallete a little bit. Perhaps blue and red? Just a thought.

Ice: I kinda like the colors in this composition and the lighting too. The one thing that really bugs me, is that huge diagonal element. I think it's way too dominant and distracting. I almost can't see the arhictecture strucures in the foreground and background. I would tone that diagonal element down a bit, and maybe make the arhictectural structure in the background a little bigger, so we can actually see it. I feel like I'm being knocked out by that diagonal element, drawing my attention away from the architectural structure in the background.
